Prepare and e-file your tax returns online

If you have the time to do your own taxes (an average of 18 hours or more, reports say) it's easy to use the Drake Online tax preparation software from the convenience of your home or office.   You can file your returns for less than the cost of similar on-line services.  The tax preparation fee is payable by credit card only and you need not pay until you are ready to e-file.

Fee schedule

Federal tax preparation fees depend on your income and  the complexity of your return.  The maximum fee is $69.95.  There is no extra charge for a single state return.

What you need

You must have the adjusted gross income (AGI) figure or PIN number from last year's federal tax return to e-file for the current tax year. Make sure you have all paperwork in front of you and organized into two general categories: Income and Deductions.  Take the time before logging onto the Drake site to total your expenses by category, such as medical costs or non-reimbursed employee business expenses.

Drake keeps you posted

Accutax does not provide support for self-preparers, but Drake Online does.  Drake will email you when your credit card has been charged and when your tax returns have been accepted by the federal and state tax authorities.  If you have any questions about your return that the Help prompts do not answer to your satisfaction, you may use the Contact link to Drake Online customer service.
